In John 3:5, Jesus again speaks of the Holy Spirit’s involvement in the New Birth. He says, “unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” Just as there are two parents for there to be a physical birth, there are also two parents in order to experience spiritual birth. The two parents for spiritual birth are the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. The Spirit of God infuses the Word of God in the prospective convert, and when the sinner believes, the Spirit imparts the life of God. The word water in verse 5 is believed to represent the Word of God.

Jesus said in John 6:44a that, “No man can come to me except the Father which hath sent me draw him:” This is the work of salvation and all three Persons of the Godhead are involved, but it is the Holy Spirit Who does the drawing. Yes, the Father which has sent Jesus Christ His Son draws the sinner by the Holy Spirit. In John 6:63 Jesus said, “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit, and they are life.” Wow! We will continue this thought next week. Blessings!

“The Deity of the Holy Spirit”
The Holy Spirit is just as much God as is the Father and the Son. In Acts 5:1-4, He is called God. In the 4th verse of that text, Peter told Ananias that he had not lied to men, but unto God, Peter speaking of the Holy Ghost. He is called Lord in various scriptures. Hebrews 10:15-16 says, “But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before, “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” NKJV.

The Holy Spirit is a Person Who Acts
Here are some scriptural evidences proving that the Holy Spirit is a living Person Who acts on our behalf. He searches all the deep things of God for our sake (1 Corinthians 2:10). He prays for us through intercessory prayer (Rom. 8:26) and leads us (Rom. 8:14). He calls the saints for special purposes (Acts 13:2), and He is our teacher of the Word and ways of God (John 14:26). Be sure and read these verses prayerfully and let it sink in. God Bless!
“The Holy Spirit as a Person”
The Holy Spirit is a Person and He operates as such. In John 15:26 Jesus says, “But when the Comforter is come, Whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceeds from the Father, He shall testify of Me.” This sounds like a living Person because He is a living Person. For the believer, He lives on the inside of us to help us in many, many ways, but He will only do what we allow Him to do. There’s much more to come. Stay tuned!
Who is the Holy Spirit? Part 2
The Holy Spirit calls attention to the other Persons of the Godhead, especially to the Son, (John 16:13-15), and is more energetic in His dealings with man; however, His personality and deity are often denied or neglected by men. Yet, the Word of God teaches that He is a Divine Person, vitally concerned with our salvation. In Old Testament times, He came upon men for different purposes and at different times, leaving them when He was finished for the moment. Think on these things. Blessings!
Who Is the Holy Spirit?
Let me start by saying that there is no difference between the names Holy Ghost and the Holy Spirit. Both names represent the same person. The Greek word for both, Ghost and Spirit, is the word pneuma, which sounds like new’-ma. The word pneuma primarily represents the wind. The wind is invisible and immaterial. So is the Holy Spirit; however, He is a real Person, the third Person of the Godhead. Please read what Jesus told Nicodemas in John 3:8. Be sure and read it now, and we’ll continue next week.
